The Columbia Historical Museum in West Columbia is planning to have a reading program for children on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the historic Rosenwald School, located directly behind the museum at the intersection of Clay and Broad streets. The reading program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday. It is free and children of all ages are invited to participate.
“We will be going on a bear hunt,” said program director Misty Congdon. “Come read with us and go on a special bear hunt (of the Teddy Bear kind) around Columbia Historical Museum.”
With school out now parents are most likely trying to come up with things for their young children to do. Here’s an idea! Bring them to the Rosenwald School Friday morning at 10:30 for this special reading program and “bear hunt.” The Rosenwald School will also be the site for the museum’s “First Saturday of the Month” children’s program on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Father’s Day is the topic of this month’s First Saturday event. Children of all ages are invited to participate in this come-and-go program that will include a scavenger hunt, treats, games and an educational talk about how Zula Winstead Loggins of West Columbia played an integral role in establishing Father’s Day nationwide.
