Children from Discovery Days Learning Center of West Columbia visited the Rosenwald School and the Columbia Historical Museum Thursday, August 3rd. The kids and their instructors were educated by Museum volunteers who guided them through the many historical displays in the museum and were shown the interior of the 1920s era schoolhouse located behind the museum. Columbia Historical Museum Curator Michael Bailey led the children through the museum and gave them a brief history lesson of early Columbia days, from the 1820s when settlers from America first arrived in this area of Texas through the early 20th century days when West Columbia became an oil boomtown. The Discovery Days kids and teachers posed for this photo in front of the chalkboards in the WC Rosenwald School Thursday morning.
