The Second Annual Runaway Scrape Ball will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Heritage Hall in West Columbia. The public is invited and encouraged to join members of the Columbia Historical Museum for the big gala in the old gymnasium at what used to be West Columbia High School/Junior High School. This event is your local museum’s primary fundraiser of the year.
1830’s attire is suggested but not necessary to attend this year’s Runaway Scrape Ball. For more information about the big gala, contact the Columbia Historical Museum at (979) 345-6125 or columbiahistoricalmuseum@gmail.com.
The museum is currently seeking auction items from area businesses and individuals to help out with the fundraiser.
Corporate tables, consisting of eight seats and a promotional placard on your table, are available for $600. Individual tickets are being sold for $50 each at the museum, located at 247 East Brazos Avenue in downtown West Columbia next door to Chesney’s Jewelry store. Tickets can also be obtained by hovering your cell phone camera over the QR Code on the flyer below.
The event will kick off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 21st, at Heritage Hall on East Bernard Street in West Columbia (the old junior high school). Dinner and a live auction will take place between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Music and dancing will be between 8:30 and 10 p.m.
The meal will be fried catfish with shrimp and crab gumbo provided by On The River restaurant in Freeport.
Last year’s inaugural Runaway Scrape Ball was a big success and the Columbia Historical Museum directors are looking forward to an even bigger crowd for the 2026 gala at Heritage Hall. Tickets will also be available at the door beginning at 6 p.m. on March 21st.
